Common Questions

Find answers to common queries about BigWater Protocol

What is The BigWater Protocol?

BigWater is a unique “Proof of Impact Protocol”. The BigWater Protocol aims to boost good health and wellness on the planet by operating a global footprint of DePIN devices that encourage actions in support of sustainability to accelerate the Climate Change transition.

Why is this initiative called BigWater?

The singular objective of the Protocol is to monetise data from sustainable activities and fund clean water initiatives to expand safe water access by providing proven technology enabled, last mile delivery solutions and deliver safe water to households. This would be done in a decentralized, sustainable and equitable manner using proprietary technology tools.

What kind of actions qualify for rewards under the BigWater Protocol?

Actions such as Voluntary Reduction of Emissions and sharing water consumption patterns would be rewarded as data is contributed to the BigWater AI tech platform. Various other existing projects aimed at reduction of Carbon Emissions & GHG, Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable Transportation, Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, Biomass), Sustainable Buildings, Industrial Solutions, Technological Solutions, Recycling, Water Management, Waste Management, Smart Household Appliances, etc can also participate in the Protocol through API integration.

How will rewards be given?

All DePIN device owners would receive rewards in the form of a BigWater Score that would be credited to their BigWater mobile app on a daily basis.

How can rewards be collected?

Rewards would be redeemable on the BigWater redemption platform in the form of household effects, appliances, groceries, etc.

Can only individuals participate in the BigWater Protocol?

No. The Protocol allows for participation across all categories such as individuals, small households, SMEs, NGOs and charitable foundations, Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes, Medical Clinics and Hospitals, Residential and Commercial premises, IT Parks and even poultry farms.

Can I operate more than one device?

Yes. The Protocol allows for the same site to operate multiple devices simultaneously. The only precondition is that the actions have to be supportive of Climate Change and in the interest of People and the Planet.

Can charitable organisations, SMEs and large companies also participate in The BigWater Protocol?

Yes. Organisations can support their team members and beneficiaries (in case of NGOs and foundations) by sponsoring devices under a Master Device License Agreement that allows them to share the rewards in a consistent, coherent and transparent manner. There is a far-fetched vision that BigWater harbours which is to establish Circular CSR. Do good activities can now become self-reliant thereby eliminating dependence upon new CSR contributions to continue their socially impactful activities.

Are the DePIN devices expensive?

No. The BigWater Protocol has secured impact funding support that will subsidise the cost of devices drastically and ensure that people from all economic strata can participate and emerge as a Good Global Citizen supporting Climate Change. The BigWater Protocol is Of the People, By the People and For the People.

What is the need for a token?

The BigWater Protocol’s ultimate goal remains providing global communities increased access to safe water. A web3 enabled listed token is the medium to unlock value contributed by all participants in the benefit of all stakeholders.

What is the correlation between clean air and clean water?

Poor air quality and contaminated water are the world’s largest and universal problems. As per WHO, 9 out of 10 people breathe air containing high level of pollutants. Secondly, an estimated 4.4 billion people lack access to safe water across 135 low and middle income countries, which is more than double the global estimate made in 2020. These two issues combined are the leading cause of illnesses and deaths in the world today. The BigWater Protocol aims to address these issues through a citizen participation and rewards program while harnessing the power of DeFi to democratise communities through safe water access. This, we believe is the only way to improve quality of life on the planet.
